Comparing Blogging to having a baby
By Tyson on Jul 27, 2007 in Blogging Tips
Some of you know I am the father of 2 children. I am fortunate enough to have both flavors of kid in my life. My daughter just turned 4 this past April and my little boy will have his 6 month well check doctor’s visit next week. Even though I have been through a baby’s first year once before, I am still amazed at all the really cool stuff that happens during this first, event filled year. There are fantastic events that happen everyday, and this time around I get to watch a big sister’s amazement with her new found love.
To go along with a new baby, I started blogging in May. I have been off to a slow start, but I think I am finding my place in this vast blogosphere. I have learned a lot from many different people, but I still have a lot to learn. My goal with this blog is to share what I learn with everyone that visits.
Today’s Share
Since I am experiencing baby and blogging year one almost simultaneously I felt I would do a Tale of the Tape on Having a Baby versus Blogging.
| Blogging | Having a Baby | |
NAME |
||
| Chose a bad one and you can change it easily | Chose a bad one, no one tells you and you are heart broke when your offspring legally changes it | |

So there you have it. Eleven items that have to be considered when you compare blogging to having a baby. If you are a parent, or just like reading great blogs, I highly recommend these blogs:
- Freaked-Out Fathers - Pete keeps you laughing and thinking.
- Mom Squawk - These ladies run a class site
- hamelife - Always a great read
Do any of you have a favorite parenting blog? Maybe a funny kid story? Can you think of another category to add to my list? IF you have an answer to anyone of these questions, comment and share it with everyone.

I really appreciate the link, Tyson. Thank you - and I’m glad you’re enjoying Hamelife.
Comparing blogging to having a baby - that’s inspired. Yet, having a blog does feel like it’s your own wee baby. How protective do we feel about it? Too protective sometimes! It’s only a blog, after all.
PS - it looks like you have the Subscribe To Comments plug-in, but it doesn’t seem to have installed properly - at least, I can’t see the text here. I had the same problem when I installed it, but I can’t remember what I did to put it right.

@ Cash for Comments - Know what you mean about feeling the responsibility. I do to, especially since I am trying to build this blog.
@Rory - You are welcome for the link. I do not remember how I found your blog, but I really enjoy the information and concepts you share with us. I did have it installed at one time with my first theme, but it did not work well so I either disabled it or uninstalled it. I will see if I can get it going this weekend.
@CutieGadget - Thanks for stopping by as a fellow list member on David’s Weekend Links I like the content you have on your site.

That’s hilarious because it rings bells.
So it’s gonna cost me more than $600k to raise each kid?! Dang! I better go get a job!
