Blogging Enemy Number 1 – Andrew Keen

On the Colbert Report British author Andrew Keen complains that everyone who blogs is bringing our culture down. When called an elitist he questions “What’s wrong with that?” He despises internet because of the ‘rise’ of amateurs because he feels that amateurs do not actually create great culture. Who is he to judge what is great culture and what is not. I think Weird Al is greatness, but just because he is a professional does that mean he is providing great culture? Many would argue that he is providing the opposite of culture.

Mr. Keen really does not like us bloggers because he feels we ‘cherry pick facts’. He loathes Wikipedia, he thinks he is smarter than the average human that might actually of witnessed or been a part of an event in history. If this guy had his way it would be easier to get your website listed in DMOZ than to publish a post on a blog. Check out the video, I a tempted to get his book and break it down, but I have other things I need to do. Like posting more than 2 times a week. I am off to cherry pick some facts.

Yeah, I saw that episode….this guy is a total jerk. If he doesn’t like blogs, then I suggest he doesn’t read any of them.

What gets me is that he has his own blog.
