8 demonstratively interesting Things About Me

I was tagged by Jay to complete this meme regarding interesting facts about me. I am just your regular guy, but I have done some things that I consider interesting. I will tag 8 people at the end of my post. Some I know, some I don’t. If I did not tag you, but you want to participate your only option is to - Just do it. If I did not tag you, but you saw this post and wanted to participate so you did, contact me and I will more than likely write a post about you and the initiative you took. If anything you will get some link love.

Rules for this 8 interesting things post:

  • Each player must post these rules to begin the meme.
  • Each players starts with eight random facts or habits about themselves.
  • People who get tagged must blog about their eight things and post these rules.
  • At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
  • Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

1. Not Just Cows and Plows – I was in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) when I was in high school. I did not raise any livestock, but I did do dairy products judging and Chapter Conducting (Robert’s Rules of Order)
2. On My Honor – I was a Boy Scout for 4 years. I never did achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, but I learned many valuable lessons during those years.
3. Capturing more than a thousand words – I love taking pictures, especially candid ones of my two children. I enjoy landscapes and architecture photos. One of my all time favorite photoblogs is A Walk Through Durham Township, Pennsylvania.
4. Speaking and One Act Plays – I compete in extemporaneous speaking in high school. The definition of extemporaneous is: carefully prepared but delivered without notes or text. We chose from 3 tops then spent 30 minutes researching and prepping a 5-7 minute speech, inside those 30 minutes we had to memorize the 3 main points we wanted to make. At the end of the 30 minutes, I stood in front of 3 judges in a room by myself and did my best to deliver the speech without the single note card we were allowed. I also was in the One-Act play all 4 years of high school. I even managed to be awarded an honorable mention All Start cast at one competition even though I only had 14 lines.
5. Let’s Play 2 – I used to be a baseball fanatic. Over the course of 3 years I saw 247 little league, high school, collegiate, minor league, and major league games. Of the 127 of those were during the 2 years I was the head manager for the Baylor Bears. I even saw an Unassisted Triple Play by Scott Morrison of Baylor against Rice, and the ball from that play is sitting on my shelf. There have been on 13 unassisted triple plays in MLB with the latest on happening on April 30th of this year. It is rarer than a Perfect Game.
6. Ice Snob – I like certain types of ice for my drinks. For those of you who have a Sonic Drive-In nearby you know that they have great ice for crunching, but there are different types ice, and I will stop to get a drink based on what type of ice a convenient store stocks. That is just how I roll. I told my coworkers about this post, and more particularly this fact. They told me I could not mention my ice ‘thing’ unless I also mention how I have a deal about getting to-go cups of tea when I a restaurant. That is a post for another day.
7. Homemade Ice Cream – Even though I watch I try to watch what I eat, I cannot pass up participating in Killis Milton Ice Cream Crank Off. This year I will be entering in the ‘you made what’ category. If you pln on being there let me know, I always love meeting folks from the blogosphere.
8. Here’s to football – I love NCAA and NFL football. We are just a month away from everything starting up, I wonder how it will affect by blogging.

Here are the 8 bloggers I am tagging

  • Gaje Master - Recently an active participant on the blog
  • Single Income Parenting - Some good topics from the author
  • Alex Noriega - Looks like an interesting person and I just entered his contest
  • Sara - She wrote the article about ladies that blog that I mentioned in this post
  • Carl - He is motivated at 14 to make money online, has to have 8 interesting things
  • The Moms at MomSquawk - These ladies have a quality blog. You should check it out, especially if they provide 8 more interesting things about themselves.
  • Freaked-Out Father - His blog is greatness, I recommend it for dad and non-dads alike.

I hope all I tagged choose to participate. I am really interested in seeing their post.

Too bad I’m not near Texas, that ice cream festival sounds like fun. Hmm…maybe if I walk to Texas, I’ll burn enough calories to eat the ice cream?

    Thanks Jay.

I missed a double quotes and the RSS feed for this post is messed up. I have fixed it though.

Ice snob. Now I’ve heard it all.

Hey how about posting some of that oratory skill in a podcast or two?

i myself am a water snob. it can’t be too cold (no ice!!), and i prefer bottled over tap (but NOT dannon or sparkletts…ugh!), although I will drink out of my Brita if i’m very thirsty. :) i don’t like a twist of lime/lemon either, i think the rind makes the water bitter.

Those where some fun facts about you. I know exactly what you are talking about when it comes to ice. I also liked the people that you tagged. They are all very interesting.

I just came across a new thing called skecthcasting, I think I am going to try to give it a go when I get a pad to draw on. I think watching a ‘white board’ and listening to someone speak as they draw you a picture of the message they are trying to deliver is a great concept.

You make your own ice cream?! That’s very cool (no pun intended)!

What crazy flavors have you come up with?
